Projects

To create a Snap Lens that leverages the cultural and communal impact of sports, utilizing augmented reality to enhance community interactions and discussions.
Platform: Snap Lens Studio
Final Output: An interactive Snap Lens that positions basketball players from various teams to promote discussion and engagement around sports dynamics and team compositions.
Initial Inspiration: Motivated by the global capacity of sports to connect people, reflecting events like the Olympics and World Cup.
Concept Ideation: Aimed to create a user-engaging experience that entertains, educates, and initiates conversations about sportsmanship and team dynamics.
Tools Used: Lens Studio,Adobe Photoshop, Snap AR Discord, consultations with AR professionals.
Step-by-Step Process
Research and Learning: I dove into the "Level Up" tutorials and "Learn Live" sessions, immersing myself in the functionalities of Snap Lens Studio. This initial phase was about laying the groundwork and ensuring I had the technical skills to bring my ideas to life.
Troubleshooting and Feedback: Early on, I encountered significant technical issues with the quiz template's collection feature, which was essential for displaying outcomes correctly. Resolving this required not just technical skills but also the ability to seek out and incorporate feedback. I turned to the AR community and sought advice from seasoned experts, which led to substantial conceptual refinements.
Prototype Development: I experimented with various sports-themed prototypes, continually thinking about what engages people emotionally and socially. My goal was to create an experience that wasn't just fun but also encouraged kindness and camaraderie among users.
π¬ Challenges Overcome: The project presented several technical challenges right from the start, particularly with scripting in Lens Studio. However, by engaging with the community and leaning on expert advice, I was able to refine the interaction design significantly. This process was not just about overcoming technical barriers but also about learning to adapt and iterate on creative ideas.
User Interaction and Feedback
The lens was intentionally designed to spark sports-related discussions, encouraging users to strategize and debate over their ideal team compositions. This wasn't just about sports; it was about creating a shared space for laughter, debate, and connectionβmuch like the discussions I've always enjoyed with my friends about who would make it onto our dream teams.
Personal Growth
This project was a profound journey in personal and professional development. Developing this Snap Lens enhanced my AR skills, sure, but it also deepened my understanding of what makes an interaction truly engaging and meaningful. It was a reminder of the power of play and discussion in forging connections, and it pushed me to think deeply about how to craft experiences that aren't just enjoyable but are also inclusive and conducive to building community.
Research-Driven Enhancements: With additional time, deeper user research would be conducted to further tailor interactions and engagement.
Technical Refinements: Ongoing development to add more dynamic and interactive features based on user feedback.
Impact of the Lens: The lens significantly impacted user interactions, emphasizing sports as a medium for connection and discussion.
Visuals and Media: Screenshots, videos, and user posts will be included to visually depict the lensβs functionality and user engagement.
